Community Supported Agriculture "CSA"
Summer CSA Baskets
  • If you would like to support local agriculture, know your farmer, and eat certified organic produce, then you would love joining our community supported agriculture “CSA”.
  • By joining our CSA, you are supporting the preservation and renewal of the environment, your health and well being, and not to mention tasty-Tennessee-fresh food grown on our farm, just minutes away.
  • Our CSA embodies the basic principle of pairing local people with local agriculture. When you the community commit to our CSA you are supporting a local farm by purchasing in advance, shares of the farm’s 2009 coming season’s harvest.  Our CSA is a wonderful relationship that benefits both the community and the farmer by allowing you to partake in high quality certified organic produce, while insuring the farmer’s livelihood.
  • You will get to taste the bounty of a full 28 week season, from May 13th through November 18th, of delicious produce from Arugula’s Star of Neal Family Farms by simply picking up your basket every Wednesday. Also, after becoming a share member of our CSA, you will receive a bi-weekly informational newsletter that will allow you to stay currently updated and quite connected with all that occurs on our produce farm throughout the season and prior to when the CSA pick-ups begin.
  • You can see all the species and varieties that we offer by clicking on Organic Produce and scrolling down to What We Grow & Months of Harvest  or Genus Species & Varieties.        Keep in mind that the harvest dates and varieties are always a predicted estimate that is planned out as best a farmer can, and that both will vary slightly from year to year as the vital and beautiful key element of environmental nature is included into the season's farm plan.
  • Our CSA thrives on many specie varieties of organic produce and herbs. Because of the array of colors, tastes, and textures that you will receive with each basket every week, this makes our CSA particularly exciting to be apart of. For each vegetable or melon, you will see nothing short of 4 varieties and up to 43 varieties of the genus specie of lettuce. We love our lettuces and greens here at Arugula's Star Farm! In fact, this array of variety is one of the most wonderful aspects of participating in our CSA, as you will get to taste and see old varieties of vegetables, fruits, and herbs that you would not be able to get commercially at a grocery store. Plus, not to mention the exquisite new flavors, freshness, and nutritional value you will be partaking in week after week by becoming a member of Arugula's Star Farm CSA. We like to think of our CSA as a adventursome culinary CSA,  as we offer wonderful produce to be used for delicious meal...after meal...after meal. Either simple or exquisite, as the choice is up to you!
  • We will also be able to offer specialty greens, lettuce, and a few other cool season crops like beets,  throughout the summer, which is uncommon normally here in TN. We are able to do this by a large shade structure on our farm that blocks 50% of the summer’s powerful sun.
  • No worries if you are thinking you might not know what to do with all your organic produce, because included with your share will be bi-weekly handouts of recipes and produce information that will compliment the season's produce and herbs. Also, we will be providing recommendations of local food sites that might inspire other wonderful recipes.
